They say that you need to go to Philly if you want an authentic cheesesteak and I will agree, Philly has the Cheesesteak game on SMASH but if by chance you can't make your way to Philly and you are craving a SUPER OFFICIAL cheesesteak with all the fixins' wit' or wit' out and you just so happen to live in CT and or are passing through, your BEST BET is Philly's!!!

THIS is not my first Rodeo here and with a plethora of options, you all will see as to why. Regardless what direction you go in with your order, disappointment is NOT on the menu. From the Owner Shem, to his amazing Team, they all will make you feel at home from the moment you step inside.

Every single time I took the trip to Norwich, to get my Cheesesteak Fix at Philly's, nothing but smiling faces and love fills the restaurant. The serving portions alone off a SINGLE ORDER of Fries and or the cheesesteak itself is more than enough to feed 2 or 3 people but if you are a SAVAGE when it comes to food, you will indeed be ready to bite the hand off of anyone that attempts to even take a small bite from the glorious bites before you.

FLAVOR, FLAVOR, FLAVOR is all they know how to deliver. The fries even hold their crisp when they are loaded with steak and or chicken.....Sauce, cheese...Usually such a combination will break a french fry down into a soggy hot mess but not at Philly's!!

All I know is you are getting FRESH BREAD from Philly for your Subs and even a very unique Italian Ice PHILLY STYLE shipped in from Philly and so even when visiting from Philly, you will feel right at home.

The establishment is ALWAYS clean and again, you can't possibly go wrong with anything on the menu....Sidenote: do not fear ordering chicken wings here and then come back to this very review and thank me later for the recommendation!! ;-)

Came here with my kid after a recent karate tournament didn't go so well for her. Planned to give her a nice dad talk over fries and soda. Phillys was close by and had good reviews so figured we'd check it out. Came in and nobody was at the front counter. Phone ringing unanswered, people looking confused -- eventually a woman shows up, sighs like we've all ruined our day, and takes our orders.

I sit down and start giving my kid the pep talk, and 15 minutes into it she says, "By the way, where are our fries?" Indeed, no fries, still nobody at the counter. I wait 5 minutes and someone else shows up. I tell him we've been waiting 20 min for a small order of fries and he shrugs. I say, "Um, they coming anytime soon?" He sighs and goes into the back, comes back with the fries. They were fine, but hoo boy this was some terrible service. Not even an apology. Will not return

So my colleague and I are racing to the Providence Airport from a meeting in CT and due to our constrained schedule had missed both a substantial breakfast and lunch.  There was an accident on 95 that caused us to reroute to makeup some time and it appeared we would barely make it to the airport on time for our flight.

At this point the hunger and time crunch got the best of me and I began blathering and muttering about burritos and pork chops and ice cream snickers and landed on a detailed list of every amazing Italian sandwich I've ever had.  Having reached starvation meltdown mode, my colleague began frantically searching yelp via the map to find something that met both of our high food quality standards and yet would potentially be a quick phone order and pickup.

"Sandwiches, sandwiches, sandwiches...how about a Phil cheese steak place?!?" She shouted.   I didn't even have to respond with words it took a two second look into my eye for her to setup the navigation and call in the order.  SAVED!!!

We ordered the buffalo chicken fries because "you'd be crazy not to..." and a regular philly minus the crunchy onions.  The buffalo fries were an outstandingly executed mound of juicy and perfectly spicy buffalo chicken chunks, fries with a garnish of ranch spattered about Jackson Pollock style.   The portions of chicken to French fry were well balanced and felt there was enough chicken to go around even to the end.  Simply put the fries were stellar!!

Regarding the philly, it was cooked well, the meat was rich and tender with wide-cut perfectly caramelized onion.  The bun was lean and perfectly encased the column of meat, onion and cheese.  It really was pretty damn legit.  My only constructive feedback I would offer would be to make it a tad bit saltier or offer a no-caramelized onion option but that's really just my own preference and not a reflection of the quality.  4 stars because I know that my spirit sandwich is here but I didn't have a chance to explore the menu further.  Someday I will return though.

Good Cheesesteak, good fries. Enjoyed it.
Was a little slow, but I believe they were starting to close up shop. No big deal.

I really really really wanted to love this place but... The flavor of the food was great and the sandwiches had plenty filling. The owner was very engaging and fun. My kids ordered the wings and ham sandwich. They were very happy with these choices. My FIL got a Philly and said that he enjoyed it. I ordered the Ivo nachos and that's when my excitement went down. My nachos were supposed to have provolone and cheese whiz, but it only had the cheese whiz. That part I didn't mind. The main issue for a meat lover like me was that my nachos were mainly onions and mushrooms with very little steak. I asked my FIL how much steak was in his sandwich. He said that he didn't know, but he liked it. Maybe he ate it too fast to notice. Also my chips were a bit stale. Not being from the area, this might have been my one and only time coming here. Hopefully what happened with my food was an exception and not the norm.
